Attractions & Activities

  • Within our property we have a forest of native Kauri trees, some as old as 300 years, plus other native trees that provide a peaceful haven for many birds such as wood pigeons, tuis, kakas, kookaburras, grey herons, shags, ducks and other sea birds. You are welcome to walk through the area.

There is a boat ramp at the bottom of the property which has road access, suitable for small boats and 4wd vehicles only.

  • The river at high tide is  ideal for sailing, canoeing or swimming. There are two canoes and a small dinghy available for guests to use. At low tide the river can be explored, oysters gathered or you can visit the shag's nesting tree.

  • Generous lawns surround the house for outdoor activities such as petanque and volleyball. There is a nearby golf course and tennis court at Omaha beach.
  • Visit Goat Island Marine Reserve; snorkelling, diving, glass bottom boat, or Tawharanui Regional Park; for walks or beach. Take the kawau ferry from Sandspit ( 15 minutes drive) and visit  Historic Kawau Island..
  • There is horse riding at Pakiri beach or surfing at the many local beaches.
  • Visit the local craft and antique shops and the famous Morris and James Pottery. Enjoy vineyard tours and wine tasting. Popular Saturday Farmers Market in Matakana. World class Matakana cinema's. Pubs, Restaurants, Shops.
